Stress

Today, the rapid pace of 21st century life can create enormous stress and pressures on many people who feel overwhelmed by the demands placed on them to perform in certain roles or live up to an ideal.

A low level of stress can be tolerated by most individuals and can motivate individuals to take action, carry out tasks and attain goals.  However, when we feel over-stressed this can result in physical and psychological harm which may lead to anxiety and depression.

Very often individuals do not notice that their stress levels have increased to negative levels until the point at which, or after which, their well-being is affected or they have become ill.

How can counselling help

Counselling can help individuals to identify their unique stress triggers- the factors in their lives which cause them excessive stress and concern.

Learning to identify what makes you feel stressed is key to gaining more control over your life-  too much stress can make individuals feel powerless, out of control and lead to intense feelings of despair and depression.

During sessions I can work with you to map out how you arrived at the stressed place you may feel you are in right now, how to move to a healthier stress- reduced way of living and how to ensure that you maintain a low- stress lifestyle.

By learning new ways of responding to situations and people and making changes to your lifestyle you can start to make progress towards a more relaxed way of being.
